This is a full-time exempt position, on siteADM, a global leader in human and animal nutrition and the world's premier agricultural origination and processing company, has an opening for a Laboratory Technician R&D color ingredients at our Research center located in Erlanger, Kentucky.We are looking for a highly motivated laboratory technician to support our color ingredient research and development projects. She/He will support the execution of the color ingredient research pipeline, in alignment with business growth ambition. This position will report to the Sr Scientist Colors.Job purpose
In this role, the Laboratory Technician will lead the day-to-day operations to support the development of natural color solutions using botanical extraction techniques and biotechnologies in alignment with business goals.
This role requires to conduct sample preparation, experimental design, data analysis, analytical characterization and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Job responsibilities
- Support the execution of research and development projects to explore and develop new and/or improved natural color solutions.
- Conduct sample/fermentation media preparation and microbial cultivation following aseptic techniques.
- Carry out color development lab experiments and operate small-scale fermenters. Analyze data and effectively communicate results to team members.
- Conduct routine color characterization and biochemical analyses.
- Keep detailed and accurate records of experiments in laboratory notebook or digital systems.
- Maintain instrument performance logs and control charts. Write up equipment SOPs.
- Maintain R&D color and fermentation lab equipment for day-to-day operations and comply with lab/workplace safety. Comply with local trainings and safety documentation.
- Contribute to culture of excellent communication, information sharing, collaboration and relationships within and outside R&D.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized lab environment contributing to a positive team culture
- Assist in training new team members and sharing best practices
- Masters and 1+ years or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of industry experience in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related fields.
- Knowledge of basic principles and hands-on experience with fermentation media preparation, microbial cultivation with aseptic techniques, chemistry experiments and color measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with lab safety protocols and procedures
- Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with team members with good communications skills.
- Time management skills and ability to pay attention to details.
- Experience working in accordance with good laboratory practices and adhere to safety standards and practices.
- Proficient in standard computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint).
- Proficient in scientific writing and data reporting for internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to contribute in a dynamic and collaborative research environment
