SummaryReporting to Executive Management, the Plant Manager will lead all coil coating plant operations with direct responsibility for production, maintenance, safety, quality, and profitability. This role requires a strong mechanical background with proven expertise in coil coating processes and equipment, as well as a demonstrated ability to manage profit and loss (P&L). The Plant Manager will be accountable for driving operational excellence, eliminating waste, improving product quality, and maximizing efficiency to ensure consistent delivery of high-performance coated products that meet customer specifications.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:This position requires comprehensive management of coil coating operations, including:
  • Leadership & Operational Oversight
  • Directly supervise plant and maintenance staff to meet production, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Provide strong mechanical and technical leadership, ensuring the coil coating line(s), slitter(s), embosser, and associated systems operate reliably and efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards
  • Financial Accountability (P&L)
  • Full responsibility for plant-level profit and loss
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the annual operating budget, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals
  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives and margin improvement through process optimization and strategic resource management
  • Analyze financial and operational reports, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to achieve profitability targets
  • Process & Quality Improvement
  • Evaluate and implement improvements in coil coating methods, surface preparation, line speeds, and curing processes to enhance quality and reduce waste
  • Oversee color matching, coating adhesion, and finish quality to meet customer and industry standards.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing
  • Team Development & Management
  • Manage and mentor production supervisors and technical staff, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development
  • Align team performance goals with plant objectives and overall business strategy
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, engagement, and teamwork
  • Strategic Collaboration
  • Partner with senior leadership on process improvement and capacity planning.
  • Support sales and customer service teams in resolving technical issues and meeting customer requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering to introduce new coating technologies and process enhancements
Supervisory Responsibilities:Lead and manage subordinate supervisors and technical staff across production and maintenance functions. Ensure effective workforce planning, training, and performance management. Maintain compliance with company policies, labor laws, and safety regulations.Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent technical and managerial experience considered.
  • Minimum 10 years in manufacturing leadership with at least 5 years in coil coating, metals processing, or closely related industry.
  • Demonstrated success in managing profit and loss for a manufacturing operation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on understanding of coil coating lines, roll coaters, ovens, and material handling systems.

  • Proven ability to lead change initiatives, implement process improvements, and drive operational excellence.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in cost control, margin management, and capital planning.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage employees at all levels and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Experienced in managing teams in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Language, Mathematical, and Reasoning Skills:Ability to interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and regulatory requirements. Proficient in analyzing financial and statistical data to make sound operational decisions. Capable of defining complex problems, developing solutions, and executing action plans effectively. Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable.Physical Demands and Work Environment:Must wear and enforce required safety equipment and comply with plant safety rules. Regularly required to stand, walk, and oversee operations on the shop floor. Exposure to moderate to high noise levels, heat from ovens, and coating fumes.Company Perks:
