Job Summary:Process engineering position focused on manufacturing and testing night vision power supplies.The Manufacturing Engineer position responsibilities include:
  • Evaluate product quality characteristic of product and determine if it meets specifications
  • Working with, training and giving feedback to bargaining unit employees to improve work processes and product quality
  • Evaluating product quality to verify operator workmanship and determine root cause of process/ yield issues
  • Perform high level of soldering of products, and repairing of products that standard operators cannot
  • Dispositioning products that operators have flagged as defective and repairing; to start this will be more than 50% of daily responsibilities
  • Conducting experiments/tests to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes
  • Conducting failure analysis on failed parts to determine root cause and best corrective action to prevent recurrence
  • Optimizing manufacturing and testing processes/ equipment and implementing cost reduction opportunities (yield and productivity improvements, waste elimination, reduce touch time)
  • Using data analytics techniques to help identify areas of concern to be worked on or areas of improvement
  • Partnering with Production Supervisors/Managers, area technicians, other area engineers, and R&D Engineering for best product flow and area yield results
  • Working to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity problems
  • Using process equipment, test instruments, and precision gauges in appropriate situations
  • Preparing engineering specifications for purchases
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:Required
  • This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a security clearance
  • BS or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-2 years technical experience in a manufacturing environment doing yield and process improvement work
  • Ability to respect, work and collaborate well with others with a range of technical capabilities from process operator to production supervisor to engineering colleagues
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalents
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and SPC
  • Knowledge of failure analysis of electronic devices and board and component levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple high priority projects
  • Willingness to deal with multiple competing demands and questions from operators and other team members
  • Comfortable with self-initiating business and professional improvements
Preferred
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software; Minitab, JMP, SAS, R or others
  • Experience with SQL databases and querying them
  • Knowledge of DMAIC and advanced statistical tools
