Recruitment Type OpenPosition DetailsGeneral StatementThe Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at Montana State University invites applications for a full-time tenure track position with primary responsibilities in teaching, research and service/outreach. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, and expertise in Computer Engineering and/or Electrical Power and Energy Systems is especially desirable, although not required. Duties will include teaching courses consistent with the candidate's background, working on curriculum development, developing a nationally recognized, externally funded research program, and participating in professional/service activities.Montana State University values a broad array of experiences and perspectives and is committed to continually supporting, promoting and building an inclusive and culturally rich campus environment. Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe new faculty member will ยท
  • Contribute to excellence in both undergraduate and graduate teaching in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department.
  • Develop a nationally-recognized externally-funded scholarly program in an appropriate focus area and produce scholarly works.
  • Contribute to MSU's outreach, service, and engagement missions.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Participate in accreditation activities, committee assignments, and service to the University, state, and profession
  • Teach effectively in our diverse University community, and be dedicated to helping students from diverse backgrounds succeed
Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills * PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or closely related field by start date.
  • Record of quality peer-reviewed and other scholarly publications.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective undergraduate and graduate teaching in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering.
  • Demonstrated potential for developing a nationally recognized, externally funded scholarly program in an appropriate focus area.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills * Academic/professional experience, especially in the areas of Computer Engineering and/or Electrical Power and Energy Systems.The Successful Candidate Will

The Program
The DepartmentThe Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) offers BS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org, MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Optics, and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering. The Department is strong in both traditional and emerging areas of the discipline, with substantial laboratory facilities supporting instructional and research missions. Many ECE faculty participate in interdisciplinary research with colleagues across campus.
The CollegeThe Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering comprises five academic departments - Chemical & Biological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Gianforte School of Computing, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, and is home to Army and Air Force ROTC Units. The College enrolls approximately 3,700 students with more than 200 studying in graduate degree programs. Doctoral degree programs include Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Materials Science. Further, the college offers a Ph.D. in Engineering with options in Applied Mechanics, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial and Management Systems Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.With a wide array of research programs in progress, MSU engineering faculty and students have garnered an impressive number of awards. In recent years, MSU engineering students have been recognized with a number of prestigious awards, including Rhodes Scholarships, a Marshall Fellowship, a Gates-Cambridge Fellowship, as well as Goldwater scholarships and NSF Graduate Research Fellowships.
