- Preparation
- Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings and schematics
- Working with piping systems, fuel, ballast, cooling, water, fire and main hydraulics etc..
- Plan and lay out pipe systems, routes and supports
- Select and prepare materials, fittings and tools
- Fabrication, assembly, cut, bend, thread, bevel and prepare pipe sections
- Fit and assemble pipes, valves, flanges, brackets and hangers
- Install and align pumps, valves and machinery connections
- Use tack welding or brazing where permitted
- Install and secure piping systems within ship compartments, machinery spaces and deck areas
- Ensure piping runs
- Maintain required clearances, accessibility and safety standards
- Install supports, insulation and penetrations through bulkheads and decks
- Testing, inspecting conduct, hydrostatic, pneumatic and operational testing of installed piping systems
- Inspect joints, welds and fittings for leaks and compliance
- Verify systems meet classification, society, NAVY, Coast Guard or shipyard requirements
- Maintenance, repair, remove, modify or replace damaged or obsolete piping systems
- Perform hot and cold work
- Work in confined spaces
- Adhere to standards such as ABS and OSHA regulations
- Must have a minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Marine Pipefitter
