- Develop and implement plant-level quality systems aligned with industry and customer expectations
- Build and lead the quality team (initially 1 engineer + 2 inspectors, scaling with output)
- Drive in-process controls, inspection plans, and defect taxonomy to prevent escapes
- Lead internal audits and prepare for customer-facing reviews and visits
- Partner with operations and engineering to define CTQs, process gates, and corrective actions
- Establish and monitor key plant metrics: FPY, COPQ, escapes, NCR closure, training completion
- Serve as the customer-facing quality lead, ensuring credibility, transparency, and trust
- Launch continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, 8D, Pareto, and root cause tools
- Train and mentor quality inspectors, fostering a culture of accountability and improvement
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (required)
- 5+ years in quality engineering or quality management within a manufacturing environment
- Minimum 3+ years leading quality teams (not a first-time manager)
- Experience in complex/heavy assemblies (industrial equipment, HVAC, power gen skids, rail, or similar)
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 (IATF experience a plus)
- Demonstrated experience building or scaling a QMS from scratch in a plant launch or expansion
- Confident and credible in front of customers; disciplined enough to call stop-ship when needed
- Proficiency with problem-solving and trend analysis (Pareto, FPY, escapes, 8D reporting)
- Early Launch Phase: Heavier travel (~50%, generally two weeks/month, weekdays) to partner with an established sister facility for process alignment and knowledge transfer
- Stabilization: Travel reduces to ~10% once the Southeastern WI plant ramps up (late 2025)
- Ongoing: Occasional travel for customer meetings, supplier quality reviews, or cross-site collaboration
