Our top-tier benefits and great retirement packages can help you build a rewarding career and lasting future with the State of Illinois.Position OverviewServes as Commodity Purchase Liaison to other state agencies in coordinating purchasing requirements; coordinates with the Division of Mental Health (DMH)/Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) management staff, CMS procurement personnel, State Comptroller’s Office, Bureau of Budget personnel to resolve procurement difficulties, specification structuring differences, funding problems, equipment purchase approvals and procurement cycle problems. Oversees annual and periodic physical inventory commodity reports for all Department of Human Services (DHS) facilities and warehouses.Essential Functions
- Serves as Commodity Purchase Liaison.
- Serves as the point of contact for facilities to determine the correct material numbers to use under the Systems, Applications and Products/Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP/ERP) System.
- Oversees the physical inventory commodity reports for facilities and both DHS Warehouses.
- Reviews and provides recommendations for authorization to supervisor for all procurement purchases for State-Operated Facilities, including food, clothing, and office and cleaning supplies.
- Advises supervisor on purchasing issues.
- Coordinates facility requests for hand-held radios.
- Disseminates key information from the Agency Procurement Office.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
- Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, OR completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
- Of the one (1) year of required experience, requires one (1) year experience working with physical inventory and performing commodity purchase reviews and approvals through checking special requisitions, suborders, preprinted requisitions, authorization amendments and cancellations by utilizing a purchasing system such as Systems, Applications and Products/Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP/ERP) System, for a large public or private organization.
- One (1) year of professional experience working with physical inventory and performing commodity purchase reviews and approvals through checking special requisitions, suborders, preprinted requisitions, authorization amendments and cancellations by utilizing a purchasing system such as Systems, Applications and Products/Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP/ERP) System, for a large public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of professional experience overseeing physical inventory commodity reports for a large public or private organization’s warehouse.
- One (1) year of professional experience reviewing and providing procurement purchase recommendations for a facility, such as food, clothing, and office and cleaning supplies.
- Two (2) years of professional experience assisting in developing and providing responses to purchasing related audit issues.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
