SCOPE OF POSITION:The Maintenance Mechanic will provide support to the operation by repairing and completing preventative maintenance activities on food production equipment.Essential duties:
  • Develop the confidence of other mechanics, employees, and supervisors in being cooperative, following plant regulations, sanitation, and safety procedures while demonstrating pride in ones work and place of employment
  • Assist in the installation, overhaul, operation, and preventative maintenance on plant equipment to insure efficient operation without direct or constant supervision and with minimum downtime. This includes conveyor/shaker systems, corn/pea/lima bean processing equipment, blanchers, palletizers, air cleaners, pumps, filters, air/hydraulic systems, case sealers.
  • Help set up production lines and change over lines to help daily production run.
  • Perform a variety of minor building and grounds maintenance activities.
  • Be able to begin to detect defects in equipment before major breakdowns occur.
  • Complete training programs, on our equipment, or technology maintaining "C" maintenance mechanic status, and preparing for "B" maintenance mechanic status.
  • Safely operate basic shop power tools, i.e.: drill press, grinders. Perform elementary sheet metal fabrication.
  • Assist in work such as aligning sprockets and pulleys and setting up or modifying equipment.
  • Employee will report to Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.
Experience:
  • Be proficient in English (writing and speaking) to perform all duties.
  • Can complete basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
  • Can maintain forklift certification.
  • Can lift, push, pull and carry up to 60lbs occasionally through the shift.
  • Can walk, stand, crouch, kneel and bend constantly through the entire shift.
  • Can work 8, 10 or 12 hours in a shift, either day or night
  • Must learn and follow safe working practices (Safety Absolutes)
  • Must learn and follow manufacturing control points and practices (Standard Work)
  • Must learn and follow quality control points and practices (GMP's/HACCP/FSMA)
  • Must have reliable attendance and attention to duties.
EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or GED/equivalent preferred.
