To supervise all departments and staff activity during the night shift. Partner with the General Manager, Assistant General Manager and all department managers in revenue growth, management and expense control. Support and mentor staff and lead by example.SCOPE:Direct and oversee all hotel operations during the night shift to ensure maximum guest satisfaction and safety. Support department managers in supervising of staff, contributing to constructive guidance, help them grow and feel appreciated.DUTIES PERFORMED:
  • Manage and monitor activities of all employees in all departments making sure they adhere to the standards of excellence and to the guidelines set in the employee handbook, hotel policies and procedures, coaching, training and correcting where needed.
  • Inform the overnight staff of nightly activities, group and VIP arrivals as well as special requests and repeat guests.
  • Maintain a professional and high quality service oriented environment at all times.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty for the hotel in the absence of the General Manager and Assistant General Manager dealing with complaints, problem solving, disturbances, special requests and any other issues that may arise.
  • Must actively participate in the decision making process on guest relocation for nights when over capacity, execute accordingly and ensure a smooth relocation process. This effort must be coordinated with the Front Office Manager or Manager of Duty prior to start of shift.
  • Assist all department managers in implementing and enforcing financial controls throughout the departments, helping with control of operating expenses.
  • Should show initiative problem solving, staff training and team leading.
  • Assist in the Food and Beverage outlets at busy times throughout the evening.
  • Report any suspicious persons, activities and/or hazardous conditions with the General Manager and department managers.
PREREQUISITIES:
  • Must be able to communicate in English writing and speaking. Other languages are advantageous. Customer service skills are important.
  • Must be available weeknights and weekends.
EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma is required. Any further education is beneficial.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous customer service and general computer knowledge is required. Front Office experience is preferred but not necessary. Knowledge of the hotel industry, food and beverage is preferred. The ability to assist in all departments at any given moment is beneficial.
