- Hire or assist in hiring nursing unit staff through effective and timely recommendations.
- Develop and manage the talents, strengths and behaviors of assigned staff as directed.
- Actively help manage operating expenses for the bleeding disorder clinics, community nursing services and other allied costs pertinent with patient care.
- Collaborate to identify Quality Management and patient satisfaction opportunities for improvement.
- Actively participate in patient care – attend clinics and share the clinical responsibilities
- Collaborate with nursing leaders and HTC Director to develop and implement unit/clinic or division strategic plans.
- Communicate with physicians, staff and other health care providers on a regular basis to promote effective and efficient operations within the unit/clinic.
- Coaches the staff in implementation of standards of care, professional development, promotes staff specialty & clinical certifications, adherence to the standards of regulatory bodies (i.e., The Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies as appropriate).
- Support unit evidence-based practice research initiatives by facilitating the incorporation of quality management and evidence-based practices in nursing care.
- A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
- 1+ years of nursing experience with demonstrated skills in leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)
- Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments.
- Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.
- Experience in a large academic medical center.
- Experience in a union environment.
