- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems from concept through production, ensuring they meet functional, structural, and manufacturability requirements.
- Translate project requirements into detailed CAD models, technical drawings, and documentation for manufacturing.
- Develop and execute test plans, including designing test fixtures and stands to validate product performance.
- Provide accurate build quotes for completed designs, factoring in materials, labor, and lead times.
- Oversee the manufacturing process for your designs, including delegating work to shop personnel and participating in hands-on fabrication and assembly as needed.
- Collaborate with other engineers to conduct design reviews, incorporate feedback, and improve product performance and reliability.
- Support the transition from prototype to production, ensuring smooth handoffs to manufacturing teams and resolving design-related issues.
- Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and compliance standards throughout the design and build process.
- Proficiency in CAD modeling and drafting (SolidWorks preferred)
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing methods
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills for conveying design intent and gathering feedback
- Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Aerospace industry or other high-precision manufacturing experience
- Hands-on prototype fabrication and assembly experience
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and material selection
- Familiarity with structural and thermal analysis tools (FEA preferred)
- Must be a U.S. Person (Defined as: a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or an individual who has been granted asylum or refugee status, in accordance with U.S. export control regulations such as ITAR and EAR)
- Willing to commute (position is only in-person)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
