JOB SUMMARYApplies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Prepares, submits and manages tax statements and returns for businesses and clients. Provides advice on financial and tax matters and should have an in-depth knowledge of the regulations, laws and acts that govern the process. Attention to detail, strong analytical skills and is a good communicator.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports
  • Provides advice on financial and tax matters and should have an in-depth knowledge of the regulations, laws and acts that govern the process
  • Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of company tax filings with the auditors
  • Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state and local tax returns and other business-related filings and surveys
  • Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures
  • Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes
  • Plan for and develop overall return calendar and coordinate timing and inputs with management
  • Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process
  • Manage and facilitate state and federal tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation
  • Provide support with various internal audits and special tax related projects
  • Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related is required
  • Typically requires 3-5 years of experience in corporate tax or public accounting
  • CPA preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of accounting theory, principles, and practices and their application is required
  • Knowledge of pertinent tax laws, codes, and regulations is required
  • Strong analytical skills are required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills is required
  • Strong office and computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel is required
  • Ability to research and analyze a variety of information is required
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships is required
  • Assembly of data and preparation of reports is required
