- Reviews, at the start of each assigned shift, the operating reports of the previous shift concerning assigned plant equipment and verifies such information by personal inspection; completes the prescribed written reports with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Responsible for the performance of the necessary steps and procedures concerning the operation, lubrication, inspection, checking and status-handling system.
- Completes the prescribed written reports at the specified intervals of time by reading and recording instrument indications of the assigned equipment.
- Assists, under direct supervision, for the purpose of participating in on-the-job training, other operators or technicians of higher classifications in the operations of the flue gas desulfurization and solid waste handling systems.
- Works a rotating “swing” shift schedule and reports for work in a timely and dependable fashion.
- Provides the necessary on-the-job guidance of personnel of lesser experience in order to upgrade their operational skills.
- Maintains appropriate channels of communication and cooperation with all power plant personnel, and reports any abnormal or potentially dangerous conditions to the appropriate supervisor(s) in a responsible and timely fashion.
- Performs housekeeping chores in and around assigned work area.
- Responsible for the proper utilization, maintenance and security of assigned tools, equipment and work areas.
- Makes suggestions to the FGD Operator or the FGD Shift Supervisor any recommendations about practices, procedures, system requirements or improvements in order to facilitate maintenance schedules, short or long-term plans, and other work efficiencies or cost improvements.
- Responsible for the proper performance of Plant Clearance Permit System procedures, as assigned.
- Acts in an exemplary manner in order to maintain and promote safe practices and procedures; participates in scheduled safety meetings and first aid classes.
- Performs various assigned tasks or procedures, during construction or major maintenance phases, under the direction of various supervisors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- Demonstrate potential, either through work experience or education, success in electrical, mechanical and/or control operational occupations
- Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
- Demonstrate skills through training and testing to qualify for the next level of progression; dependable and cooperative.
- Must be capable of ascending and descending vertical ladders in a timely manner and perform work on platforms as assigned.
- Must be able to work and/or stand and perform work non-stop for several hours at a time.
- Must possess legible handwriting.
