- Provide Pastoral counseling and care services, from a Biblical worldview that are also clinically sound to FBCG leaders, staff, and members in good standing. Provide exhortation and equipping of saints for the work of ministry and discipleship.
- Provide referral and resource information to the community and membership.
- Research clinical symptoms as the need arises and provide support, assistance and referrals for clinical continuity of care when necessary.
- Present mental and emotional health training and support for Wellness Wednesday and Processing Groups as the need arises.
- Present mental health training at various staff development retreats, conferences, and workshops.
- Present mental health training and psychoeducational support to various ministries at FBCG.
- Assist with team building exercises for staff development and training.
- Provide Spiritual Care services to external referrals from Pastor Jenkins or First Lady Trina Jenkins.
- Demonstrates a knowledge of and familiarity with FBCG, community and professional resources to refer constituents to appropriate professionals.
- Provides triage, resources, and referrals to the FBCG community and guests as needed when crisis arises.
- Must be saved, have a servant’s heart, and be a member, in good standing or willing to join and become a member in good standing of FBCG.
- A commitment to the sufficiency of Scripture in the process of providing Biblical counseling that sustains, heals, reconciles, and guides God’s people in their journey toward progressive sanctification.
- Displays consistent wisdom, maturity, discernment, and sensitivity with both people and Scripture.
- Master's Degree in a counseling related area (preferred).
- Maryland state license in mental health field (preferred).
- Previous experience in Biblically-based mental health counseling or other related fields.
- Familiarity with community mental health resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to build rapport with clients.
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Able to speak the truth in love (Eph. 4:15).
- Adequately prepare for counseling sessions. This includes communication with counselees between meetings, prayer, review of previous sessions, planning for upcoming sessions, biblical study, research, and consultation.
- Establish open lines of communication for individuals with mental or emotional issues.
- Offer internal and external assistance to individuals with substance abuse issues.
- Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
- Competent at multitasking, time management, and prioritizing.
- Proven expertise as a teacher and communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Relational, outgoing, and good with people—ability to establish and maintain strong, healthy relationships with others.
- Able to apply God’s truth to daily Christian living and equipping others to do the same.
- Other duties as assigned by Authorities.
