The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.Job DescriptionJob Summary:MSNBC Digital is hiring an experienced senior editor to work with our enterprise reporters on zeitgeisty investigative projects and thought-provoking features. This editor should have a proven record of success in conceiving, producing and editing well-written, high-impact work on a variety of topics. The editor should have demonstrated experience in coordinating all aspects of digital projects, including cross-platform promotion.Topics may include extremism, misinformation, race and politics, inequality and health care.This editorial leader will shape and execute our strategy. They will be a decisive, collaborative leader with a proven ability to manage fast-paced newsrooms, inspire high-performing teams, and produce innovative, high-impact stories. Reporting to the Managing Editor for News and working closely with MSNBC leadership, the Senior Enterprise Editor will play a key role in defining the long-term vision for MSNBC.com and expanding our audience through compelling original journalism.This role is based in New York.Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement a digital enterprise strategy for MSNBC.com that expands the brand while staying true to its unique reader promise
  • Edit and support the enterprise reporters, shaping everything from pitches and angles to ledes and kickers
  • Collaborate with MSNBC show teams marketing teams and PR to promote digital work and make ensure seamless digital and linear cross-promotion
  • See the bigger picture, stay nimble in the moment, and work well under pressure
QualificationsQualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience
  • At least 5+ years of editing experience at a major publication; preference digital-first
  • Excellent editing and fact checking skills
  • Impeccable news judgment
  • Experience overseeing long-form features and/or investigations
  • Excellent communication skills - tact, sensitivity, diplomacy, persuasion
  • Demonstrated self-starter, with the confidence to make decisions quickly in a fast-paced news environment.
  • Experience leading a team strongly preferred
