
Engineering Manager

- Manage product development to ensure projects stay on schedule and meets target costs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate new technologies for hardware and control system development.
- Manage a team of 3-6 engineers to ensure effective performance and maintain high motivation.
- Participate in the hiring process by screening resumes, conducting interviews, and selecting qualified candidates.
- Manage the department’s capital and operational budgets, plan the budget requirements for each development project, and monitor actual expenses.
- Participate in future product ideation discussions and contribute by proposing attractive and feasible solutions.
- Develop technical strategies and present them to senior management
- Contribute to the design of next-generation boat control system architecture
- Lead collaboration with external vendors from production development through future strategic planning.
- Ensure contractual and legal compliance in all business dealings with external vendors.
- Establishes design & qualification test criteria which will ensure a cost-effective product which meets Yamaha performance, quality & reliability requirements.
- Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and pre-production parts for testing.
- Provide suppliers with necessary design information to develop components and ensure production of quality products.
- Lead and direct the work of others for a specific model. Approve and review designs/drawings of others within the department.
- Create and maintain department development flowcharts, continuously identifying and implementing improvements.
- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics, or Software Engineering required.
- Masters in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
- Minimum of 3-5 yrs of managerial experience required.
- Proficient in MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Must possess excellent engineering judgment and analysis skills.
- ADAS development and Simulation experience a plus.
- Must have strong project management experience in mass production development of electronic systems.
- Demonstrates strong business acumen with the ability to develop compelling business cases.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize changing workload.
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Must be able to travel internationally and domestically to Japan and to suppliers.
