Supports (BELTSS) through the Ohio Client of Health? The Nursing Home Administrator directs, supervises and evaluates long-term and acute care operations at
designated location (nursing, social services, medical services, activities, dietary, pastoral care, medical records,
compliance, life safety, admissions, quality assurance and performance improvement, therapy)
Job Duties/Responsibilities/Functions (including but not limited to)
? Develops Cliental procedures and policies in accordance with governing statutes
? Monitors business operations (e.g., purchasing and personnel requests; initiates contracts for physicians; directs
recruiting, training, and scheduling of medical and non-medical staff under his/her authority)
? Interprets federal, state, and local regulations to assure compliance with nursing home operations and to fulfill
licensure standards
? Monitors medical reporting, staffing, and procedures in order to ensure compliance with regulations and quality
of care
? Supervises activity programming and evaluates and monitors all patient rehabilitation programs in consultation
with physicians
? Maintains appropriate census and addresses any issues with respect to admissions and denials of residents,
including rights to appeal discharges
? Ensures appropriate infection control program
? Assumes responsibility for directing overall operations of Ohio Veterans' Home in absence of Superintendent
? Establishes and maintains favorable rapport with residents, their families and/or guardians
? Establishes and reviews at least annually, written policies regarding the applicability and implementation of
residents' rights under sections 3721.10 to 3721.17 of the Ohio Revised Code, the responsibilities of residents
regarding their rights, and the home's grievance procedure
? Acts as lead in annual U.S. Client of Veteran Affairs survey and Ohio Client of Health annual survey
and all other complaint and/or compliance activities related to same
? Reviews and develops a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections
? Maintains cooperative relations with representations of the U.S. Client of Veteran Affairs, Ohio
Client of Health, Ohio Client of Aging, area hospitals, veteran service organizations and other
nursing homes
? Plans, implements, and evaluates life safety programs and nursing educational programs
? Develops, implements, and evaluates fire and disaster plans
? Evaluates annual financial program and coordinates development of budget for Clients under the
authority of the Nursing Home Administrator
? Plans and participates in the capital budget process to make improvements in the quality of buildings and
surroundings of the nursing home
? Serves as representative on Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) committee, Compliance
Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee; attends Resident Council meetings and Family Council
meetings to present on current events at the Nursing Home; engages the community and veteran groups
regarding the Ohio Veterans Home; performs any other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
? Knowledge of applicable standards of environmental health and safety
? Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local health and safety laws and rules governing nursing home
operations
? General administration psychology of patient care; principles of medical care; personal and social care;
therapeutic and supportive care and services in long term care
? Cliental organization and management; community interrelationship
? Ability to deal with many variables & determine specific course of action
? Gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things
