- Trains others in all assigned duties related to the designated area of the lab
- Performs order entry in LIS
- Transports specimens and performs all pre-analytical processes related to lab testing
- Verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis
- Troubleshoots problems and identifies and communicates needed updates to procedures
- Demonstrates customer service skills in answering phone calls and questions from internal and external healthcare staff
- Works in Processing, Histology, and/or any analytical laboratory testing area (e.g. Microbiology, Chemistry, etc.)
- Assists as needed with Phlebotomy duties if trained/competent
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year of training and work experience in specimen processing, with at least 6 months at Kootenai Health in a specimen processing capacity required
- Kootenai Health Preceptor Training required within 6 months of hire
- BLS required, if found to be applicable by laboratory supervisor
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job
- Must be able to stoop crouch or bend
- Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
- If you change your title or department, you will receive a new badge. Badges are printed and available in Security on the Wednesday of the week following your transfer.

- Those with a primary position as a PRN will receive per diem pay. Per Diem rates are tiered depending on number of years of employment.
