In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices.We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the "Food is Medicine" field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 33 years, the agency has provided 11M+ free, scratch-made meals.Primary Responsibilities:The Packaging Associate’s main role will be to execute the daily food packaging and sorting required to feed our clients. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.In a combination of individual effort and leading volunteer teams, the PA has to complete a variety of daily tasks including but not limited to:
  • Portioning, packaging and labeling meals and meal components.
  • Sorting and organizing packaged food into the appropriate area and by item type.
  • Monitoring and maintaining product inventory levels.
  • Building diet specific bags/boxes for clients.
  • Able to positively engage with and assist volunteers in a task.
  • Actively communicate progress and needs to supervisor and team members.
  • Takes responsibility for assigned tasks and ensures their timely completion.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness in work and storage areas.
  • Champions teamwork through words and actions and seeks ways to support teammates.
  • Proper product storage/labeling/rotation.
  • RTE food handling practices.
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment use and cleaning.
  • Daily maintenance of work and storage areas.
  • Monitor temperatures and timing of prepared foods.
  • Able to understand daily production sheets.
  • Able to work independently and in teams.
  • Able to work in the dish room as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Education:High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.Experience
  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Comfortable interacting with the public.
  • Good communication skills.

Physical Demands and Special Work ConditionsThis position requires an individual to have the ability to lift to a maximum of 50 lbs. and includes bending and standing for long periods of time.
