Paramount also has a reputation for providing the best customer service in our industry – we are customer obsessed.Reporting to Hayward Pool Products Engineering Manager in Phoenix, AZ, with technical direction from the Sr. Manager of Global Engineering Services, the Mechanical Designer has responsibility for collaborating with Product Design Engineers for the generation of all 2D and 3D SolidWorks/NX CAD files required to describe the products, systems, subsystems or components under development. The Mechanical Designer will develop and process models for products used with swimming pools relating to in-floor cleaning, sanitization, plastic, and metal fittings. The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for the assembly fit up of products, systems and subsystems at the assembly level.Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Product Engineer and Industrial Designer to develop product designs that satisfy the customer’s needs and represent the best balance of cost, produce-ability, form, fit, function, appearance and quality.
  • Ensure implementation of new products and changes to existing products are consistent with new product development plans, Bill of Materials (BOM), Engineering Change Requests (ECR),
First Articles (FA) and Cost Reduction/Standardization plans. * Lead all Bill of Material activity by working with product development engineers and manufacturing engineering during the development and revision of product components, sub-assemblies and Finished Goods.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing for the resolution of manufacturing issues associated with Item Master and BOM’s for components, systems, subsystems, or products.
  • At the direction of the Product Design Engineer constructs analytical models or model files as well as performing analysis and summarizing the data for analysis.
  • Performs "worst case" tolerance analysis and stack-ups to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.
  • With the assistance of manufacturing engineering, dimension and tolerance component features assuring that selected tolerances are within manufacturing capability.
  • Participate in design reviews of engineering drawings and assemblies using accepted engineering/drafting practices and standards.
  • Constructs and or develops product, system, subsystem, or component data files in file formats that would be compatible with other CAD systems and systems that take advantage of techniques such as Rapid Prototyping.
  • Prepare/build prototype parts, assemblies, and test fixtures. Collect and analyze test data.
Qualifications
  • 3 to 7 years 2D/3D CAD experience, emphasizing 3D solid modeling. SolidWorks experience required, NX a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, design, and ensure manufacturability of injection-molded components for high volume manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of design tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • Working knowledge of Team Center PLM, a plus.
  • Working knowledge of statistics, std deviation, mean, control limits, etc.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical devices and systems.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, disciplines, and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques such as SLS and SLA.
  • Strong interpersonal, communications and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Working knowledge of analytical tools for motion, vibration, thermal and stress analysis, and mold flow in a CAD environment.
Education and Experience:
  • 3+ years of work experience and/or an equivalent of military/technical training
  • AAS or BS Engineering degree a plus.
