The Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing operations performed by hourly production colleagues to ensure that work is performed safely and efficiently, while meeting expected environmental, quality, and housekeeping standards established by the Company. The individual in this position will work closely with the Shift Superintendent to direct plant operations on a shift rotation.Specific Job Duties
- Directs the operators on both assigned shifts to execute overall plant goals. Sets specific expectations for the night shift to hold operators accountable.
- Works closely with the Dry Grind Superintendent to effectively lead both shifts of operators.
- Sets clear and measurable expectations of all direct reports and holds them accountable to them..
- Aligns expectations with overall dry grind KPI's. .
- Able to effectively function, learn, and grow in a dynamic operating environment where you will work across a variety of areas depending on differing needs.
- Provides directions, priorities, and resources to hourly colleague teams while delivering positive results.
- Prioritizes safety above all other competing interests. Leads with a safety-first mindset and believe that all injuries are preventable. Upholds company and occupational safety and health regulations.
- Adheres to company and regulatory standards for environmental compliance and food safety compliance.
- Ensures operators and himself are properly filling out and walking down all required permits. Develop a strong understanding of all LCS.
- Work with DG superintendent and SME to effectively lead and direct ethanol loadout on assigned shift.
- Review maintenance schedule and work and thoroughly prepares operators to effectively execute the plan. .
- Recognizes hazards and takes action to mitigate them in order to prevent safety, quality, or environmental incidents.
- Listens and responds to employee suggestions and concerns regarding safety, quality, environment, housekeeping, and plant operations.
- Addresses employee concerns and maintains good communications and morale on the assigned shift rotation.
- Keeps department leaders informed of matters affecting the morale and safety of hourly colleagues.
- Leads by example and demonstrates the ADM Core Values in all matters, especially as it pertains to safety and personal conduct.
- Evaluates and provides feedback on hourly colleague performance as requested by department superintendent. Has a desire to mentor both new and experienced hourly team members as the need and opportunity arises.
- Provides positive feedback when hourly team members are observed producing strong results and safe performance.
- Completes necessary reports and documents during the normal course of a shift, including by not limited to safety-quality-environmental events/reports, production reports, permits, and regular safety engagements.
- Attend leadership and any additional assigned training.
- Ensures all operators understand plant goals and expectations and develops a culture of operator execution with minimal direction.
- Support and grow planning and preparation culture.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a business or operations related field preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross functional teams.
- Consistent performance reviews of meets expectations or higher.
- 3-5 years processing or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.
- Accuracy and thoroughness in recordkeeping.
- Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently
- High level of motivation and results-oriented way of working.
- MS Office Suite
- Experience as a qualified operator or loader is preferred.
- Experience as a cross qualified operator or shift champion is a plus.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred for any external candidates.
