Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships.JOB SUMMARYA lab assistant is supervised and directed by the course instructor and is not involved in summative assessment activities such as practical examinations. Their position is to assist students with hands-on practice and assist with formative assessment such as completion of skills checks. The lab assistant will be a licensed clinician qualified to assess formative skills.This is an in person onsite part-time position.Details: * For a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30), the assistant shall serve as a contracted employee of the College.
- Lab assistants will be hired and paid on a PRN basis at an hourly rate established at the time of contract.
- If requested to do so by the Department Chairperson, provide feedback on the efficacy of the activities, and/or student participation.
- Review course materials in advance of the date of service to ensure a quality student learning experience.
- Use the College email account assigned to the member and check that account on a daily basis.
- Adhere to all FERPA regulations.
- Complete all mandatory annual education required by the institution.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited PT or PTA program, or deemed equivalent program.
- Licensed PT or PTA in any US state, eligible for licensure in Maryland.
- Minimum of 1-year clinical experience as a PT or PTA.
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy.
- Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
- Member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Prior teaching experience in PT or PTA program or equivalent coursework.
- Knowledge of education, management, and adult learning theories and principles.
- Active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical education.
- Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
- Varies based on semester
- Up to 6 hours a week
