Overall Job Function:The Agronomy Innovation Specialist works to proactively research, develop, and implement short-term and long-term customer-facing and internal company innovation strategies designed to advance our customers and the company. This forward-thinking individual will provide direct support with customers and FCS employees by providing insight and expertise by driving current and future technologies, agronomic, and business practices.Essential Job Functions:Direct farm gate customer interactions include effectively assessing current and future customer needs and developing potential solutions with current and future FCS product, service, or people expertise. Help drive current and future sales of innovative products and services. Interact with customers in a professional manner and provide value as a resource.Research, develop, and help lead the implementation of new customer-facing and internal FCS facing solutions. Assist in the creation and implementation of current and future technology, business practices, and risk strategies.Work with the internal FCS team across the company to build out implementation strategies focused on current and future technologies and business strategies. Help to drive change internally. Work to advance “one FCS” cross marketing solutions to leverage FCS competitive advantages and utilize whole farm solutions.Lead and assist in the development of on farm customer trials of current and future technologies to create more data and agronomic and economic insights for the customer as well as FCS. Facilitate trial work and new technology exposure with a network of partners.Create and facilitate marketing content showcasing innovation in conjunction with the FCS marketing team.Accurate trial product and service ordering, forecasting, and communication of needs with all stakeholders with necessary follow-up and timely execution.Assists other sales reps/locations as needed or asked by supervisor, participates in special projects.Other duties as assigned.Secondary Responsibilities:Ability to operate and understand mobile equipment.Maintains a clean and safe working environment.Ability to handle stressful situations professionally.Competencies:Excellent people skills with the ability to adapt and influence all styles effectively.Positive attitude.Self-starter and self-directed with excellent time management skills.Understanding complex agronomic concepts, business, and technology and/or ability to learnHigh level of customer service focusSupports a consistent professional image of the company.Observes safety policy and procedure as an absoluteWork ethic of the highest integrity.Commitment to dependability and willingness to work to meet goals and deadlines.Qualifications:High School Diploma + Related College Coursework along with a minimum of 2 years of Agronomy Sales or related sales experience.Progressive, Positive Work HistoryExcellent Written and Oral Communication SkillsTechnology Acumen Including Microsoft Software, Tablet Computer Use, Ag Aps, etc. SOILMAP.CCA PreferredClass A CDL license applicable to driving a truck.An acceptable driving record.Work Requirements:This position is based in a fast-paced agricultural setting and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and vibrations. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. PPE will be provided and must be utilized according to safety standards. Typical working hours are based on customer and organizational demand; hours may be long, irregular and include weekends and holidays during peak season.While performing job functions the employee will be required to talk and hear most of the time. The employee will spend frequent intervals moving and sitting, while also needing to reach, bend, twist, crawl, crouch, stoop or kneel. The employee will need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and maneuver on and off mobile equipment.
