Ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, early-stage environments and wants to shape how things are done from the ground up.Role SummaryThe Whole Loan Accountant will oversee all aspects of loan transaction accounting and operational reporting, collaborating with third-party servicers and internal teams to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and seamless integration into the broader platform. This is a hands-on role with both strategic visibility and critical execution responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesLoan & Operational Accounting
Record and track loan purchases, sales, remittances, and lifecycle events
Reconcile activity with servicers, custodians, and investment managers on a monthly basis
Assist in onboarding of new clients, servicers, and custodians onto proprietary platform
Partner with client-side accounting and ops teams to support reconciliation of downstream systems
Technology Integration & Process Design
Collaborate closely with the engineering team to enhance system functionality
Test and validate new platform features related to loan accounting
Maintain internal documentation and process flows (SOPs, checklists, control narratives)
Contribute to platform improvements, automation initiatives, and SOC 1 compliance
Controls & Regulatory Alignment
Support month-end workflows, reporting packages, and internal audit prep
Help implement and enforce financial controls, policies, and process improvements
Stay current on accounting guidance and loan reporting best practices
Qualifications & Experience
2-5+ years of loan operations, whole loan accounting, or structured finance experience
Deep understanding of loan remittances, lifecycle events, and reconciliation processes
Familiarity with mortgage or loan servicing platforms strongly preferred
Experience working in a start-up or high-growth environment a plus
Advanced Excel skills; systems-oriented with a tech-friendly mindset
Highly organized, accountable, and proactive in process ownership
Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders
