Description:This position is responsible for the fabrication, repair, and modification of plastic extrusion equipment.Work Schedule:7am to 3pm M-F with overtime as required during the week and potential for weekend work. Employees are assigned to an A/B rotating weekend schedule. 20% TravelResponsibilities:
  • Perform necessary welding in production environment.
  • Operate lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other machine shop equipment
  • Reading blueprints, equipment rigging and installation, knowledge of hydraulics and gear boxes, assembly/disassembly of equipment, routine maintenance, and repair of plastic extruders, blenders, and other related equipment.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and make decisions within the scope of the position
  • Must be able to work at various heights
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be willing to travel on an as-needed basis
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tact with people in various positions and levels within the company
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently
  • Must have effective time management skills
  • Must have general computer skills, ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints and is capable of accurately distinguishing colors
  • Must maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed
  • Must be able to pass a forklift, boom lift, scissor lift, and a respirator fit test
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Education and Experience:
  • Must have Associates degree in Welding; experience may be considered in lieu of form education (3-5 years)
  • Must have welding experience (MIG and TIG)
  • Must have plumbing experience
  • Must have prior fabricating experience and the ability to read drawings
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Working conditions in the role of a Maintenance Technician may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents.Regularly
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl,
  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Talk and hear to coordinate and operate equipment
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.

  • Use of safety equipment as dictated by the work (safety glasses, safety shoes, respirators, face shields, hearing protection, gloves, etc.)

  • Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • Work in temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions, with dust, fumes, airborne particles

  • Required to sit, perform keyboard work.
  • Operates a computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine and printer.
  • Handle (with mechanical equipment) up to 250 pounds.
  • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protection
  • Exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard
  • Work at elevated heights of approximately 30 feet

  • Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, respirators, face shield, hearing protection, Tyvek suit, gloves, etc. Proper personal safety equipment is to be used while performing this job as pointed out by plant safety procedures.
