The OpportunityThis position works out of either Abbott Park, Illinois or Willis Tower, Chicago, IL location within the Global HR Services Team as a HR Data Privacy and Compliance Analyst. This position offers high visibility to senior HR leadership and provides a strong foundation for future growth into broader Security, Compliance, or HR roles.The HR Data Privacy and Compliance Analyst will collaborate closely with HR colleagues, affiliate teams, and technical partners to drive the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of data privacy and compliance practices across the HR technology ecosystem. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding employee data and ensuring regulatory and Abbott policy compliance.What You’ll Work On
  • Support and guide on key assessments including Vendor Risk Management (VRM), Privacy Risk Assessments (PRA), Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA), and Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) and partner with key stakeholders to ensure identified risks are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain data privacy assessment metrics and dashboards to monitor compliance across the HR environment, enabling business leaders to make informed, data-driven decisions that support strategic and compliance objectives. Support Leadership reporting.
  • Support the onboarding of new HR solutions by ensuring alignment with data privacy and compliance requirements, including assistance through documentation such as Vendor Risk Assessments, System Risk Classification (SRC), Privacy Risk Assessments (PRA), and Data Protection Plans.
  • Assist to coordinate on the decommissioning process for legacy systems by facilitating structured offboarding workflows that address data retention, secure disposal, access recertification, and documentation archiving.
  • Partner with HR system owners to execute the internal Annual Compliance Review, assessing the compliance posture of all active HR solutions. Support proactive remediation efforts and drive continuous improvement across the HR technology landscape.
  • Identify ways to automate control review and reduce manual work where possible - therefore enabling increased scope of global pro-active assessments
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance and assessment requirements by responding to inquiries from business owners, providing guidance on data privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Guide on trainings to HR stakeholders to enhance awareness and understanding of data privacy and policy obligations and best practices.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability by executing responsibilities with accuracy, rigor, and autonomy. Proactively identify and escalate to Manager potential concerns that may impact the success of key projects, processes, or pose compliance risks, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in data privacy, compliance, or risk management, preferably within an HR or a regulated enterprise environment.
  • Success in developing sustainable compliance solutions in a global environment.
  • Knowledge of global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, LGPD) and their application to employee data and HR systems.
  • Proficiency in tools such as OneTrust, ServiceNow, Excel, and Power BI, for managing assessments, workflows, and compliance dashboards.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex privacy requirements into comprehensible guidance for HR business owners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or support recurring project cycles, including documentation reviews, risk assessments, and cross-functional stakeholder coordination.
  • Ability to lead meetings and working sessions with cross-functional stakeholders, including providing agendas, driving accountability for action items, and ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of compliance-related tasks.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and solutions.
  • Experience with security and/or compliance-related certifications is a plus (e.g., CISA, CIPP, CISSP), demonstrating foundational knowledge in risk management, data protection, and regulatory frameworks.
