Holidays: none Weekends: noneJob Summary:The Wound Care Technician assists wound care providers during patient exams and plays an essential role in patient care by preparing exam rooms, assisting patients with mobility needs by safely using a Hoyer lift for transfers and positioning, performing select wound care procedures, and supporting providers during examinations.Under the license of a Wound and Ostomy (WOCN) practitioner, the Wound Care Technician gains expertise in the management of various types of wounds. This role offers the opportunity to learn about different wound types and the appropriate treatments to promote healing, prevent complications, and improve the overall health of patients with acute or chronic wounds. Primary responsibilities include performing dressing changes, measuring wounds, maintaining photographic documentation, applying and removing advanced wound dressings, administering compression therapy, and supporting procedures like ultrasonic and nonselective debridement.The Wound Care Technician is required to be enrolled in the department’s orientation to develop the competencies and clinical skills needed to effectively support the WOCN practitioner and independently perform essential tasks.EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:Previous experience in an outpatient health care setting and 1 year of experience in a wound care setting is preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:High school diploma or equivalent; Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Surgical Technician or EMT education program is required. SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in wound care techniques.LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:Current State of Wisconsin Certification as a Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (Associate, Diploma or Certificate) is required; American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.Perks & Benefits at Froedtert HealthFroedtert Health Offers a variety of perks & benefits to staff, depending on your role you may be eligible for the following:
