Defense contractor involved with product development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles in the Los Angeles International Airport area. With a 50+ year foundation, The Marvin Group supports all branches of the Department of Defense and allies around the globe on an array of programs and platforms. We support many military prime contractors including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.SCOPEResponsible for improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies by taking the lead in setting resource requirements, resource allocation, and control of the manufacturing processes.RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee subordinate staff and assign duties to individuals and teams.
  • Participate in developing and implementing manufacturing strategic plans and processes.
  • Mentor and develop personnel in the Operation's Manufacturing group with emphasis on safety, change management, cross training of employees, driving employee ownership of results, and establishing a lean and continuous improvement manufacturing environment.
  • Lead and monitor the development, implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures and guidelines within responsible functional areas.
  • Define long and short-term manufacturing plans/goals in accordance with company goals and objectives.
  • Achieve optimum employee production levels with the least amount of overhead by identifying, recommending, and implementing changes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Direct and monitor manufacturing managers in the accomplishment of manufacturing plan goals consistent with established safety and manufacturing.
  • Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., safety, training, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security).
  • Assist in the coordination of major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, identification & installation of capital equipment, major repairs).
  • Monitor and review the performance of subordinate staff and organize necessary plans for improvement.
  • Ensure collaboration and co-ordination with relevant departments including procurement, quality, inventory, production control, program management, and production planning.
  • Execute administrative policies through subordinate managers.
  • Lead a cultural shift in the organization focused on continuous improvements to move the facility to the next level of operational excellence.
  • Responsible for selecting, training, motivating, and developing staff as well as acting as a facilitator.
  • Responsible for promoting and maintaining interdepartmental harmony.
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required; Engineering, Manufacturing, or Operations Management Preferred
  • At least 10 years manufacturing leadership experience in multi-function operations required, preferably in an A&D environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques, raw materials, quality systems and standards, machines and tools, process improvement techniques, and business management principles and practices required.
  • Must be familiar with engineering and technology principles and practices.
  • Solid computer skills working with MS Office programs and ERP systems (preferably SAP).
  • Must have experience in business and management principles and practices.
  • Lean manufacturing and CI training and experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
