POSITION SUMMARY:The Patient Access Center Associate I reports to the Supervisor of Central Scheduling providing clerical/administrative support by coordinating and prioritizing procedures/exams for multiple ECHN physician practices. This role serves as a resource to the physician offices when scheduling the appropriate test and assists in resolving any issues without disruption between the patient and the office.EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • High School degree required; associate degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of at least two (2) years of related Patient Scheduling experience with sufficient knowledge to coordinate a variety of procedures and exams.
  • Medical Terminology.
COMPETENCIES:
  • Strong Customer Service Expertise.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Medical Terminology knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Medical Insurance.
  • Current with ICD-10 Codes.
  • Must have basic computer and keyboard skills required.

These responsibilities and competencies listed below may change from time to time.Job-Specific Competency * Schedules and coordinates appointments based on physician or patient request with accuracy regarding all aspects including physician selection, available times and resources. Schedules appropriate appointments with physician assuring the necessary time allotment is given as well as handles appropriate processing regarding cancellations and/or accommodations.
  • Communicates openly and in a timely manner to the ECHN Patient Access Center clinical staff on an issues, questions, medical concerns or emergent cases.
  • Obtains diagnosis and/or presenting symptoms for appropriate appointment as well as gather correct demographics and insurance information for billing and reimbursement.
  • Maintains any schedule changes and maneuvers appropriate appointment dates and times based on the needs/concerns of the patient and/or the physician.
  • Informs patients of required preparations prior to appointment according to defined protocol.
  • Follows proper procedures to stay compliant with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Able to operate department specific equipment including fax (specifically the fax software currently in use), computer, phones, copier, and printers.
