Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Department of Corrections contributes to public safety by exercising reasonable, safe, secure, and humane management while actively providing offenders opportunities to become law-abiding citizens. The Wyoming Women's Center (WWC) was established in 1981. It serves as a primary education and treatment center for female inmates. The WWC provides programming, vocational, recreational, and educational programs to allow the WDOC to reduce recidivism through cognitive and behavioral intervention.The ETIN07 Instructor will teach inmates computer skills to assist the inmates in re-entering society.   • Works as an Adjunct Professor at Eastern Wyoming College (EWC), teaching a Computer Applications Program Course through Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Develop course materials, training plans, curricula, lesson plans, student handouts, and audio/visual materials related to Computer Applications Program.
  • Assign work assignments to students, track their progress, and correct tests and work assignments.
  • Must be able to complete certification to work as an adjunct professor with Eastern Wyoming College in order to teach Computer Applications Certification Program through Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Works with WDOC and Eastern Wyoming College in facilitating a Computer Applications Program Course though Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,.
  • Generate and submit course requests, course syllabi, and grades to EWC.
  • Coordinate with the Education Manager about programs and other college courses offered in the facility through Wyoming Pathways from Prison and other postsecondary establishments.
  • Update inmate information on the Wyoming Department of Corrections Information System (WCIS), such as Case Notes, inmate Job Pay, and Education Information.
  • Create weekly reports and weekly activities to be submitted to the Education Manager.
  • Respond to daily requests and questions from inmates.
  • Assist security in day-to-day operations and activities in the facility.
  • Counsel, encourage, and correct inmates' behaviors.
  • Duties as otherwise assigned.
QualificationsPREFERENCES:Preference may be given to those candidates who hold a Bachelor's Degree, typically in Education.MOS Certification (May be obtained within 6 month of hire date, preference to those with current certification.)KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of education, psychology, human development, and counseling techniques.
  • Knowledge of mainframe and personal computer systems.
  • Knowledge of teaching, training, research, making presentations, testing, and other instructional methods.

  • The ability to work inside a prison facility.
  • Exposure to inside and outdoor environmental conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Lifting and grasping up to 20 pounds without assistance on an occasional to regular basis.
  • Walking on cement floors on an occasional to regular basis.
  • Walking up and down stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Typing/Repetitive motion frequently.
  • Seeing: the visual ability to perform an activity such as analyzing data and figures and viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading.
