Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SI) is looking to hire a Consultant to join our Pipeline Integrity Compliance Solutions (PICS) business unit. The Consultant will be responsible for providing engineering consulting services supporting client projects related to pipeline integrity, safety regulations, and engineering critical assessments. The Consultant will be expected to lead projects and provide engineering services with regards to Fitness-for-Service (FFS) evaluations, pipeline anomaly and feature analyses, finite element modeling, and detailed documentation in support of these activities. As a member of the O&G Strategic Initiatives group, the Consultant will provide support to the development and implementation of new programs and solutions to support key initiatives in these areas, including new and novel solutions to support our clients’ compliance and pipeline integrity activities with recently enacted changes to Pipeline Safety Regulations.The safe, environmentally responsible operation of our nation’s pipelines has always been our priority. Pipeline operators employ comprehensive integrity management programs to prevent failures of the pipeline system due to causes such as corrosion, manufacturing defects, excavation damage, or other causes. SI works with these natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline operators to assist in implementation and improvement of integrity management programs. We continually expand our technical expertise through the active participation in standards development and other regulatory forums. We provide industry leading solutions to the most challenging problems.Role Expectations:
  • Requires application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for various job assignments.
  • We strive to be known for unmatched quality of our services and deliverables. Attention to detail and willingness to receive and act on constructive feedback are required.
  • Knowledge of Gas Pipeline Safety Regulations (49 CFR 192) and relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.8, ASME B31.8S, API 1176, API 579) is required.
  • Experience evaluating pipeline defects (such as cracks, dents, and corrosion features) and making repair or replacement recommendations and determining re-assessment intervals.
  • Knowledge and experience applying Finite Element Modeling software tools and analysis in the evaluation of pipeline defects.
  • All work will be thoroughly documented in a report. Technical writing skills are required.
  • Effective communication skills are required. The candidate will be expected to communicate project status and results with clients.
  • Travel may be required for some projects. Travel percent is expected to be 20% or less.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task on different projects at different levels in a fast-paced environment.
  • 7+ years of relevant job experience.
  • 3+ years of Finite Element Modeling experience.
  • Experience with front-end and back-end software application development, including integration of engineering calculations into software applications.
  • Open and flexible approach to work environment and job responsibilities.
  • Candidates with a BS or MS degree will be considered. Preferred majors include Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.

Pay Rate: The expected salary range for this role in Denver, CO is $116,000 to $142,000 annually. Exact pay will be commensurate with experience.Structural Integrity Associates, Inc.
