- High school graduate or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
- Prefer continuing education in subjects relating to building maintenance and/or construction.
- Three to Five years’ experience in and/or construction trades combined with building maintenance experience..
- Current Washington State driver’s license is desirable.
- Must have a strong background and experience with construction.
- Ability to read and interpret facility blue prints and mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple situations simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
- Working knowledge of hazardous material and the use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Working knowledge of modes of transmission of infectious diseases, including blood-borne pathogens, and the practice of universal precautions.
- Understands and respects Residents’ Rights.
- Demonstrates patience; a genuine caring attitude toward the elderly, disabled persons, and children; flexibility; a positive outlook; the ability to focus on the strengths of other people; and a healthy sense of humor.
- Demonstrated skill and experience in all of the categories mentioned as Specific Duties and Responsibilities.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools in a correct and safe manner.
- Expected to have a good understanding or mechanical, plumbing, hydraulic, electrical, and structural problems and identify safe, timely, effective, and efficient means of correcting the problems.
- Required to assess and evaluate the outcome of maintenance work and identify ways to improve services.
- Required to make decisions required to effectively correct threats to safety.
