- Interprets engineering drawings, sketches and sample parts to understand the tolerances and requirements of the parts or tooling to be machined.
- Offers advice on part design for better manufacturability
- Work from sketches, verbal, and print information in order to produce machined parts according to specifications.
- Understands the importance of processing parts to key features such as datums and GDT.
- Possesses good problem solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of CNC programming. Able to manually program machines on the floor.
- Good understanding of feeds, speeds and tooling setup.
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as CNC Mills/Lathes, Manual Mills/Lathes, Drill Press, Grinders, and other support equipment.
- Trains others to run jobs giving detailed instructions on: function of each tool, offsets, and dimensional checks.
- Performs routine maintenance, such as maintaining fluid levels, to metal cutting equipment.
- Keeps work areas organized, clean and free of hazards.
- Takes proper care of all Sonnax tools and equipment.
- Uses and reads precision measuring tools.
- Good understanding of basic shop math including decimal/fraction conversion.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to hold tight machining tolerances
- Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience setting up and operating CNC and Manual equipment.
- Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing,
- Learn and work with Conversational Programming
- Lifting up to 40 lbs. and no restrictions on wearing required PPE for area, including safety footwear and protective eyewear.
