- Provide technical direction to supervision to ensure adherence to specifications, codes & standards
- Coordinate design and field revisions with the design engineer
- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases
- Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- Deep understanding of formwork design and ACI codes and Standards.
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans,
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
- Required bachelor's degree in civil engineering (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline. ACI certification preferred.
- Specialized courses in construction management.
- Work experience as a construction engineer, engineer or assistant superintendent leading to an understanding of the technical knowledge described above.
- Technical knowledge of a specialized engineering discipline, cost, scheduling and/or contracts administration relating to the construction of heavy industrial or commercial complexes.
- Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
- Ability to work in a active construction environment including walking rebar and climbing formwork and scaffold to perform required inspections.
- Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
- Familiar with Bechtel’s Business Ethics handbook and policies.
- Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
- Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” safety program.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
- Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
