POSITION TITLE: MEDICAL ASSISTANT- TELEMEDICINEFLSA: NON-EXEMPTJob Summary:The Telemedicine Medical Assistant facilitates virtual patient appointments by preparing patients for consultations, managing electronic health records, and ensuring all necessary information is readily available for healthcare providers. They assist with patient education, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure compliance with telehealth protocols while maintaining a high standard of patient care in a remote setting. Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate virtual patient appointments by preparing patients and ensuring they have the necessary technology for telehealth consultations.
  • Contact and prepare patients for physician care, including scheduling appointments and assisting them with the Patient Engagement Platform (e.j Healow) application.
  • Manage electronic health records, ensuring all relevant patient information is up-to-date and accessible for healthcare providers.
  • Assist healthcare providers during virtual visits, documenting key information and addressing any patient questions or concerns.
  • Provide patient education on telemedicine processes, health management, and follow-up care.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues to ensure smooth virtual interactions and maintain compliance with telehealth protocols.
  • Support the coordination of care by scheduling follow-up appointments and communicating with patients as needed.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality in all telemedicine interactions.
  • Perform basic lab tests, such as blood draws, urinalysis, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Assist in minor surgeries and perform other procedures like EKG and vision checks as needed.
  • Provide patient education on health management, procedures, preventive care, and immunizations.
  • Schedule appointments, follow-ups, and referrals, ensuring smooth patient flow and office coordination.
  • Handle patient inquiries, confirm appointments, and assist with check-ins and check-outs, ensuring accurate documentation for visits.
  • Update and maintain patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Process insurance verification, billing, and coding information, as required.
  • Ensure infection control policies are followed, including sterilizing instruments and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Manage office supplies, medical equipment inventory, and assist with filing, faxing, and correspondence tasks.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines in all interactions and record management.
  • Conduct daily chart audits and review for the following day's appointments.
  • Assist with special projects or additional tasks as directed by healthcare providers or office managers.
  • Flexibility to learn new technologies and processes.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers.

  • Ability to use office equipment, including computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, calculators, and more.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical records (EMR), staying current with updates and system improvements.
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Medical Assistant Diploma is required
  • Medical Assistant Transcripts is required
  • Valid Medical Assistant Certification or Registration is preferred.
  • BLS is required within three months
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the clinic for extended periods.
  • Ability to assist with lifting or positioning patients as needed (up to 25 pounds).
  • Must be able to travel to various center locations as required.
