Duties:This position will be responsible for Mechanical Engineering laboratories, including tracking the lab budget, supervision of assistants and graders, preparing demonstrations and lectures, developing curriculum, leading safety training of students, maintaining equipment, oversight and mentoring of student senior design projects, including multidisciplinary cross-campus senior design projects, multi-disciplinary student competition projects, solicitation of funds in support of student projects, and tracking lab inventory. Job responsibilities include teaching lecture courses depending on department needs. This person will lead lab equipment and instrumentation setup and operation and oversee lab and machine shop activities, and is expected to provide service to the department, campus, community, and profession.Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MS in an engineering field.
  • Experience in oversight of or actual use of machine shop tools.
  • Experience in equipment procurement, modification, installation, and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industrial experience;
  • Teaching experience;
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills; and
  • Capability to obtain a PE license within four years of appointment.
