Powering the Interior of Alaska, GVEA contributes to the economic, environmental, and social viability of our communities.Your day as a Journeyman LinemanAs a Journeyman Lineman at Golden Valley Electric Association in Fairbanks, Alaska, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and continuous delivery of electric power to our Members. You will be responsible for performing a wide range of transmission and distribution line construction, maintenance, and inspection operations, both under energized (hazardous) and de-energized conditions. Your expertise will be key in constructing, operating, repairing, and maintaining overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution systems. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to leverage your leadership skills by training Journeyman Lineman Apprentices to execute the same repairs effectively. Join our team and be part of a company that values innovation, safety, mission focus, and fiscal responsibility.Would you be a great Journeyman Lineman?To excel in the role of Journeyman Lineman at Golden Valley Electric Association in Fairbanks, Alaska, candidates should possess a High School diploma or equivalent and hold a valid Alaska Class A Commercial Driver's License. While four or more years of experience and/or apprenticeship training is preferred, significant expertise in the construction and maintenance of RUS-related distribution systems is highly valued. Preference will be given to applicants who have attended additional trade school or apprenticeship programs to further enhance their skills. Successful candidates for this position must demonstrate a strong foundation in electrical line work, a commitment to safety, the ability to work effectively in hazardous conditions, and excellent leadership capabilities to guide and mentor Apprentice Linemen.Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Alaska Class A Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • Four or more years' experience and/or four years apprenticeship training is preferred for this position. Significant experience in the construction and maintenance of RUS-related distribution systems is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have attended additional trade school/apprenticeship school.
