- Assesses and evaluates the physical, emotional, and social needs of the patient and act as the patient advocate to assure a safe patient experience.
- Identifies pertinent patient history during admission process.
- Assesses patient’s needs continually from admission to discharge and relays needed information to other team members.
- Ensures complete and thorough documentation in a timely manner, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Initiate and direct life support measures and perform effectively in “code” situations.
- Offers and implements suggestions to provide improved patient care and participates in Quality Improvement activities as appropriate for position.
- Maintains a current knowledge of medication use, preparation, and contraindications, especially as related to GI or emergency situations.
- Moderate (Conscious) Sedation: Sedation/analgesia may be administered by the RN, under the direct supervision of a physician, who has been granted sedation/analgesia privileges.
- Deep Sedation: Per Washington state regulations, a registered nurse qualified by training and experience functions as the circulating nurse when deep sedation is used.
- Able to maintain IV access on patients.
- Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of infection prevention and patient safety.
- Clean and properly care for all equipment.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN license to practice professional nursing in the State of Washington.
- Current BLS certification.
- ACLS certification required within 90-days of hire.
- Previous clinical, hospital, or gastroenterology nursing experience preferred.
- IV therapy experience preferred.
- Moderate Sedation experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem-solve independently
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform data entry into an electronic medical record
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat and kneel occasionally
- Ability to assist patients supporting weight, assisting in positioning of patients, etc.
- Ability to grasp small objects and manipulate medical instruments
- Ability to reach including reaching overhead and below waist
- Ability to lift 10 pounds frequently, occasional lifting 25 pounds
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs
