- Partner with CFO on payroll reconciliation, reporting, and compliance.
- Own payroll execution and filings: processing runs, reconciling funding, TWC/SUTA reporting, and IRS requirements.
- Manage vendor payments, expense reimbursements, and financial reporting for the Houston site.
- Shadow the external payroll/tax provider during the initial setup and assume ownership of finance-related payroll tasks after conversion.
- Work closely with HR to ensure accurate employee data, benefits, and deductions flow into payroll.
- Complete registrations and tax IDs (IRS, TWC, SUTA, etc.).
- Assist in payroll setup and HR documentation processes.
- Establish onboarding, benefits, and recordkeeping workflows.
- Manage the smooth transition of existing employees — in-house payroll once systems are ready.
- Have experience with Texas payroll, TWC/SUTA filings, and HR/finance compliance.
- Are comfortable working in a small, fast-moving setup environment.
- Can collaborate across HR and Finance to manage payroll jointly in-house.
- Are ready to transition from shadowing the provider to owning local HR and payroll operations.
