Position: Grant Writer
Location: Orlando, FL (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Month Renewable ContractPosition Description
  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced grant writer to assist us in preparing a Technical Volume for a VTO grant application.
  • This contractor will primarily focus on crafting a 30-page narrative, collaborating closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure accurate and compelling content.
  • The Technical Volume is a critical component of our grant application, and we require someone with a strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to effectively communicate them to grant reviewers
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with SMEs to gather technical information and insights necessary for the grant narrative. Write, edit, and revise the Technical Volume according to the requirements outlined in the Funding Opportunity Announcement.
  • Ensure that all content is clear, concise, and aligns with the goals and objectives of the grant application.
  • Work closely with the project lead to incorporate feedback and revisions in a timely manner. Adhere to deadlines and milestones to ensure the timely completion of the grant application.
Skills RequiredGrant Proposal Development:
  • Experience with Utilities grants.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather information and insights necessary for proposal development.
Proposal Writing:
  • Craft compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with the guidelines and requirements of each funding opportunity.
  • Tailor proposals to effectively communicate the organization's objectives, impact, and financial needs.
Communication and Collaboration:
  • Maintain open communication with internal teams to gather relevant information for proposals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including program managers and leadership, to ensure grant applications align with organizational goals.
Flexible Schedule:
  • Work on a flexible schedule, accommodating peak workload periods and adjusting hours as needed.
  • Effectively manage time to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of all grant-related activities, including proposal drafts, communications with funders, and submission details.
  • This set of roles and responsibilities reflects the diverse tasks and skills required for a contract grant writer in a gig-based, flexible hours arrangement.
Skills Preferred
  • Requirements: Proven experience in grant writing (utility industry), particularly in the technical or scientific field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate technical information into compelling narratives for grant applications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software for document formatting and collaboration. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Technical Writing, Engineering) preferred.
Experience Required
  • Senior-Level Experience: A senior-level grant writer would have extensive experience in grant writing, particularly in technical or specialized fields.
  • They would likely have a track record of successfully securing grants and funding for projects like yours.
  • Senior grant writers often have advanced skills in project management, strategic planning, and budget development, which can be valuable assets in the grant application process
Education Required
High School Diploma required, some college and advanced degree preferred but not required.Additional Information
