The Graduate Resident Nurse utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice and provides direct patient care, with supervision from a registered professional nurse, to patients and families. This is an entry-level nursing position for Graduate Resident Nurses. Training, evaluation, and competencies for this role are overseen by a Nurse Leader in the department. During the first year of employment, you will be enrolled in a Nurse Residency Program. Nurse Leadership will determine a balance of Clinical and Educational time.6 West is a 36 bed blended acuity unit with a clinical specialty in neurology. This population of patients includes acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, seizures, epilepsy monitoring and other acute neurological diseases. As a certified comprehensive stroke center, we work closely with the vascular neurology team, and our nurses are experts in acute stroke care. In addition, this unit sees a wide variety of acutely ill medical patients. Outside of our nine bed progressive care unit, our unit features 27 beds with continuous cardiac monitoring capability. Our unit has a close relationship with the critical care team and we prepare our nurses for a seamless transition into our intensive care units should this be the path they choose.If interested in learning more, please apply below!Job Description:Education:Graduate of a 2-4 year state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Skills, Knowledge & Abilities.Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures.Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to the unit-specific competencies.Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.Qualifications:Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration; graduating nursing students must provide NCLEX registration documentation when eligible.American Heart Association - Basic Life Support CertificateDemonstrate critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC SkillsLifting 75 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbsExperience;0-1 years related work experience required.Basic familiarity with computers.
