This position involves the maintenance, repair, and calibration of a wide range of biomedical devices used in patient care. The technician will work closely with healthcare professionals to troubleshoot equipment issues and provide technical support, thereby directly impacting patient outcomes. Additionally, the role includes documenting maintenance activities and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Ultimately, the Biomedical Technician contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery by ensuring that critical medical technologies are reliable and available when needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on biomedical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Calibrate and test medical devices to meet safety and operational standards.
  • Provide technical support and training to healthcare staff on the proper use of medical equipment.
  • Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to identify equipment needs and address any technical issues.

  • Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years’ experience in the field of Bio-Medical instrumentation service and maintenance.
  • Experience working in a clinical or hospital environment.
Preferred:
  • Associate’s degree in Biomedical Technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or equivalent.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors.
