We’re currently seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to join our Mortgage team! This team member is responsible for originating quality first mortgage loans which provide value to the organization while delivering high levels of service to our members. Primarily serves existing members, via in-person appointments during set office days to ensure branch coverage. Efficiently handles large volumes of unassigned applications based on market conditions. Maintains relationships with realtors and ensures high satisfaction to garner referral business in addition to the internal focus.Specific duties include:
  • Receives and screens loan inquiries and applications. Conducts loan interviews by consulting with members regarding their needs and eligibility and informs them of available programs. Informs member of loan details including rate, payment, and closing costs such as Loan Level Pricing Adjustments, appraisal, and attorney fees. Reviews all pertinent loan disclosures with the member. Prepares a complete and thorough file for underwriting review.
  • Gathers pertinent financial data and documentation based on the loan scenario and borrower(s) financial profile, including employment history and credit check of applicant(s). Requests, reviews, and analyzes borrower credit reports. Notifies the applicant(s) to resolve discrepancies such as late payment history, judgments, etc. Requests the appraisal on the property and/or construction plans & specs.
  • Manages personal calendar schedule based on departmental guidelines, providing a consistent branch presence in an assigned location. Maintains in-office days, arriving on time and ready to serve members. Keeps calendar and team up to date on availability. Works closely with the branch staff to develop a branch relationship and branch referral sources. Assists members in cross-selling other Credit Union programs and services.
  • Maintains constant communication and a high level of service with branch staff, realtors, attorneys, builders, and other vendors to assure a favorable image of the organization and to provide information regarding current loan policies and procedures. 10% Exhibits problem-solving and decision-making skills. Relies on underwriting guideline resources and/or mortgage department manuals, as needed.

  • Maintains high knowledge of FHLMC, FNMA, NEFCU portfolio, VHFA, FHA, VA, RD and Mortgage Insurance guidelines. Stays up to date on mortgage products and programs within the mortgage industry. Remains up to date on required mortgage software programs used in their day-to-day work. Completes all assigned training and certifications on or before assigned due dates and to quality level expectations.
  • Maintains member satisfaction as measured by the survey card with a 95% level at “meets” or “exceeds” ratings.
  • Manages mortgage loan application pipeline in conjunction with mortgage loan assistants and processors to achieve maximum efficiency and member/Realtor satisfaction.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of one year of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • High school degree, or equivalent. Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.
  • Knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines is required. Bilingual skills are a plus.
