Director of DevelopmentReal estate investment and development firm is seeking an experienced Director of Development to lead and manage full life-cycle development projects across a variety of asset classes, including office, retail, multifamily, and mixed-use. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to execute the company’s strategic growth initiatives.Responsibilities:
  • Identify and evaluate development opportunities through market research, broker networks, and off-market relationships
  • Lead site selection, negotiation, and acquisition processes, including LOIs, purchase agreements, due diligence, and closings
  • Conduct financial analysis, underwriting, and risk assessments
  • Oversee entitlement strategies and municipal approvals in partnership with consultants and legal advisors
  • Coordinate site planning, environmental studies, and engineering reviews
  • Manage all phases of the development process from pre-development through construction and project close-out
  • Work with internal and external teams on design, permitting, and budgeting
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards
  • Support marketing and leasing strategies for commercial tenants or residential occupancy
  • Interface with brokers, respond to RFPs, and assist in lease negotiation processes
  • Collaborate with finance team to structure capital stacks, prepare investment packages, and support lender/investor relations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners including brokers, municipalities, contractors, investors, and tenants
  • Represent the firm at industry events and client meetings to drive business development and deal flow
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in commercial real estate development
  • Proven track record in delivering commercial real estate projects from acquisition through completion
  • Strong financial modeling and project budgeting skills
  • Effective communicator with ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management or real estate software is a plus
  • Regional travel may be required based on project needs
