- Replenishes automated drug distribution machines following a standard procedure established by policy.
- Troubleshoots for problems related to the operation of the automated drug distribution machines.
- Forwards concerns that can not be corrected to the appropriate individual in a timely manner.
- Prepares sterile products (add-a-vials, syringes, IV Admixtures, chemotherapy, large volume parenteral) following standard procedures established by policy and under the supervision, and check of a licensed pharmacist.
- Assures that all quality related procedures are followed.
- Inputs information into the Hospital's inpatient pharmacy clinical information management system as requested.
- For areas not served by point of care automated dispensing equipment, assures that required medications and supplies are dispensed following established procedures.
- Performs extemporaneously compounding and prepackaging under the guidelines of pharmacy policy, and under the supervision, and check of a licensed pharmacist.
- Orders and receives medication inventory; rotates stock and checks expiration dates routinely.
- Follows all established procedures to assure the quality and security of the medication assets.
- Maintains assigned area in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
- Assembles, tabulates and analyzes quality improvement data when requested.
- Assists in reports and survey tabulation when requested.
- Performs monthly patient care center reviews, as assigned.
- Enters data into the computer system specialized to that activity.
- Attends appropriate orientation, continuing education, and training courses to maintain competency in job skills and knowledge.
- Participates in required educational programs, including HIS, safety, infection control, AIDS awareness, age-related special needs and behaviors, etc.
- Assures a pharmacist checks each preparation prior to it being dispensed.
- Consults with a pharmacist or supervisor when necessary and as required by Florida Statutes, when making exceptions to a policy that would benefit the patient.
- Refers clinical questions to a pharmacist.
- Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
