Founded in 1968, KSAT has grown to over 450 employees with an annual revenue of approximately $150M. About 50% of KSAT’s annual revenue comes from the US. The wholly owned subsidiary KSAT Inc. (aka. KSAT USA) is located in Denver, Colorado and is rapidly growing in response to strong US Government and industry demand for commercial ground segment services. As a result of KSAT’s continued growth in the US, more critical talent is needed.Summary of PositionKSAT USA is seeking an experienced engineering manager to lead the newly created Satellite Operations Team in Denver. This team is responsible for executing the successful operation of a variety of space missions through all mission phases. The US Satellite Operations Lead will act as the product owner of the US Satellite Operations (SatOps) service by overseeing the development and execution of this KSAT USA service offering.The US Satellite Operations Lead will be tasked with establishing and facilitating the vision for the US Satellite Operations Team, in close conjunction with the Tromsø Satellite Operations Center (TSOC) and in collaboration with KSAT USA Management. You will accomplish this by leading the three components of the US SatOps product -- the operations team, the physical operations center, and integrating customers into the suite of software applications which make up the monitoring and control system.Day-to-day tasks for the US Satellite Operations Lead may include operations team task management, on-console staffing coordination, customer support, liaison between DSOC/TSOC engineers, customers, proposal support, mission architecture and ConOps design, KSAT US management, resource allocation, and additional management ad hoc tasks as required.The preferred candidate will have a deep familiarity with satellite subsystems, experience in leading satellite operations as a mission director, and a significant background in team leadership and management. This position will report to Austin Cooner, US Director of Engineering. The role will be local to the Denver region with flexible teleworking opportunities, in line with mission requirements. CompensationThe base salary range is between $130K - $150K.Benefits Package Highlights

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities May Include
  • Acting as Mission Director for KSAT USA Satellite operations programs,
  • Supporting mission proposals and development of new contracts,
  • Coordinating DSOC activities and allocation of DSOC resources,
  • Performing as Team Lead for the US Satellite Operations Team,
  • Recruiting and management of Satellite Ground System Engineers,
  • Leading coordination with TSOC,
  • Filling as needed day-to-day roles including On-console operations, product design and development, as needed,
  • Aligning US Satellite Operations product with KSAT vision and goals.
RequirementsUS CitizenshipEligible to maintain a US DoD SECRET ClearanceQualifications And Skills
  • Minimum
  • Bachelor’s degree in Space Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in space industry
  • 5+ years space operations experience
  • 3+ years in leadership and/or management role
  • 3+ years of demonstrated systems engineering experience with process tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Previous experience designing, developing, and implementing Satellite ground C2 systems
  • Strong customer focus
  • Preferred
  • Master's in Space Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • Previous Mission Director or Lead Satellite Operations experience
Travel
  • Travel is estimated at 10%
  • Travel may be necessary to customer sites in the United States
  • Travel will be necessary to Tromsø, Norway 2-3 times per year
  • Travel to other global locations may be required on a case-by-case basis
