- Practice locations can include Duke Health's three hospitals or over 140 primary care and specialty care clinics throughout North Carolina.
- Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.
- Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform through physical examinations.
- Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities.
- Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgement including prescribing appropriate medications.
- Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
- Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documentation of toxicities and data collection.
- Communication among multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care.
- Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising, back-up supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members.
- Participate in education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners.
- See scheduled and unscheduled patients.
- Attend program required meetings.
- Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
- Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
- Maintain institutional requirements for compliance.

- Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
- Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Physician Assistant Certification
- Nurse Practitioner Licensure and Certification
- Licensed in the State of North Carolina
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
- Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- 1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred.
