The responsibility of this position is to administer and manage the overall risk management program for Kirkwood Community College.UNIVERSAL CORE COMPETENCIES:

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
  • Review and recommend modifications to contracts, as they relate to insurance, indemnification and liability issues.
  • Review and track certificates required by contracts and vendor partners.
  • Present the risk management perspective in meetings of campus faculty, staff and administrators and provide risk management trainings sessions on topics of interest.
  • Coordinate implementation and evaluation of current insurance coverage and future coverage needs.
  • Primary point of contact with liability insurance and broker.
  • Administer and coordinate yearly insurance renewal process.
  • Review requests for certificates of insurance and request certificates from agent/broker.
  • Conduct site visits to identify and analyze risks and communicate appropriate response to departments.
  • Develop written materials to assist departments with loss control and other risk reduction techniques.
  • Support and maintain college wide contract administration system
  • Administer Driver Authorization Program to assure vehicles are operated by faculty and staff with acceptable driving records.
  • Manage the Risk and Safety Committee functions, meetings and action items.
  • Manage property and liability claims and assist with management of worker's compensation files.
  • Analyze data on losses and determine preventative measures to be taken.
  • Prepare monthly loss reports for distribution to Risk and Safety Committee.
  • Establish and maintain records including insurance policies, claims and loss experience.
  • Work with insurance auditors and loss control representatives to ensure compliance with insurance and safety policy requirements.
  • Manage the Colleges formal safety management system.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and no less than 2 years' experience in commercial insurance with some risk management required.
  • Knowledge and experience in loss prevention, loss control, claims, contract negotiations and coverage negotiations required.
PREFERRED QUAULIFICATIONS:
  • Industry designations or certification(s) such as Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) will be considered.
