
Assistant Professor of Family Studies and Human Development – Early Childhood Education

- Teach 24 credits per school year (2 semesters) in the Family Studies and Human Development Department for the Early Childhood Education associates degree. Other courses in human development, family studies and/or nutrition will also be taught, depending on the qualifications of the successful applicant.
- Engage in scholarship/scholarly creative activities.
- Co-lead the continuing development, review and management of existing Early Childhood Education courses, including scheduling, budgeting, and equipment. Help oversee direct assessment of ECE courses and program.
- Assist with supervision of the on-campus preschool.
- Perform campus-wide faculty duties, including holding office hours, attending faculty and other meetings, adhering to University policies, serving on college and University committees, and in performing service requirements of tenure-track faculty as outlined in University policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the dean or department chair.
- Doctorate degree (PhD or EdD) in Early Childhood Education or highly related field from an accredited institution required; additional background in Nutrition and/or Family Studies preferred. ABD will also be considered if degree will be completed prior to August 2026.
- At least 3 years' experience in the field of Early Childhood Education required; preschool preferred, K-2 grades will be considered.
- At least 3 years' experience teaching online, face-to-face, and/or blended university ECE courses.
- Commitment to, and evidence of undergraduate teaching excellence. Finalists will be required to demonstrate competence through a teaching demonstration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability and willingness to participate in university, school, and departmental recruitment, retention, and assessment activities.
