
Lead Heavy Equipment Operator

- Will teach according to all work instructions, policies and procedures regarding heavy equipment operation, the movement of product or material in a safe and efficient way
- Ensures the safe execution of all standard and non-standard lifts in all types of lighting and weather conditions• Identify gaps in process and leads improvement projects
- Implement ideas into standard work
- Work with support staff to validate quality or process improvement changes
- Consistently demonstrates focus on quality and set an example for others to follow
- Conduct milestone observations
- Participate in providing training for all employees
- Identify and escalate gaps in safety standards, protocols, processes and behavior, as well as safety risks in the operations / environment
- Promote and foster strong team environment
- Ensure cross departmental collaboration in accomplishing operational objectives/goals, as well as mentoring employees
- Performs and teaches all system functions in Rail and Outside Receiving to process information pertaining to the shipment of final goods and/or receipt of material into ERP system.
- Maintains inventory records through use of Vestas handheld device and computers
- Ensures the completion of daily safety inspections on all equipment, rigging and maintains cleanliness of assigned equipment
- Ensures the completion of 1st line maintenance requirements on all equipment
- Reviews appropriate schedules to determine components and material to be moved, gathered, or loaded
- Ensures the timely filling of requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to assembly line
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 68 lbs. in weight
- Ability to frequently walk, stand, look up/down, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend• Ability to constantly grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools
- Ability to successfully proctor all training courses
- Ability to hear and see, including the ability to perceive depth and distinguish colors, sufficient to perform job functions and use close range radios
- Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
- A comfortable working as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction
- Proficient level use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and other software programs
- Able to climb 20' ladders regularly throughout shift in all weather conditions
- High school or GED required

- Certified on 2t-7t PIT,10/12 ton forklifts, 33 ton forklifts, Flexmaster, 45 Ton Reach Stacker, 16/18 Meclifts, 42 ton Meclift, Mijack, Bobcat, Terminal Tractor Powered Industrical Trucks
- Valid drivers license
- 2 + years experience: material handling, forklift operation
